The Readiness Tools

The Readiness Tools (RTs) have been developed by the Department of Health’s Care Services Improvement Partnership Networks, in collaboration with Professor Bob Hudson from Durham Universtiy, to assist local agenices assess their readiness for the new forms of working required by Our health, our care, our say.

They are built on a framework of 30 customised measures based on a combination of validated research findings into ‘what works’, along with good practice guidance. This is the framework that has already been successfully developed with the first of The Readiness Tools - ITMA (Integrated Team Monitoring & Assessment) which has been available on the CSIP Networks website since last year (see www.icn.csip.org.uk).

CSIP has now added three more on-line RTs. First, the Partnership Assessment Tool 2 (PAT 2) which is a more accessible version of the popular PAT previously developed at the Nuffield Institute for Health. Just as ITMA assesses inter-professional working, this tool allows you and your colleagues and partners to assess the readiness of your interagency relationships for the new care environment. Secondly, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment Tool (JSNA-RT) to assess readiness for implementing the new requirement to produce a JSNA. And finally the Networks Readiness Tool designed to guide on support localities wishing to develop care networks.
